The Staunton Braves pulled off a miraculous comeback Saturday to defeat the Harrisonburg Turks 15-12 in 11 innings.
The Braves trailed 12-1 entering the bottom of the ninth. Staunton chipped away at the lead, but still tailed 12-7 with two outs and two on. Eli Davis (Arkansas State) hit a 3-run homer to make it 12-10. Andrew Czech (Walsh) made it bac-to-back with a solo shot to cut it to 12-11. Devon Adams (George Mason) made it three in a row as his solo homer tied the score. Adams then walked it off with a three run homer in the 11th for the 15-12 win.
Leadoff batter Duncan Pastore (Nova Southeastern) was4-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Davis was 3-for-6 with five RBIs. Czech was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and Adams was 3-for-5 with four RBIs. Kent Rookline (West Virginia Tech) added two hits.
Hunter Illing (Charleston Southern) picked up the win with two shutout innings. Ron Brown (Houston) also had a strong relief stint, allowing no runs on one hit in 2.1 innings.
