BRAVES SIGN THREE FROM RADFORD

The Staunton Braves have signed three players from Radford University, including 2009 Braves pitcher Shane Pysh, for the 2010 season.

Pysh, a junior righthander, was 2-0 with a 2.79 ERA for the Braves in three starts last summer before shutting down with a tired arm. Pysh is expected to return to Radford’s starting rotation this spring.

Also joining the Braves from Radford will be freshman catcher Daniel Wright and junior infielder Alex Guerra.

Wright will return home for the summer after an all-state high school career at nearby Fort Defiance. Wright should see some quality time behind the dish after a solid fall season when he hit .364 in Radford’s fall World Series.

Guerra sat the 2009 season at Radford after transferring from Greensboro College. A switch-hitting junior, Guerra is expected to battle for the starting job at third base.
