BRAVES SIGN UCF LEFTY

The Staunton Braves have signed University of Central Florida lefty Nick Cicio to a contract for the 2010 summer season.

Cicio transferred to UCF after two standout seasons in junior college at CCBC-Catonsville. He was a JUCO Division II All-American last year after posting an 8-1 record with a 1.40 ERA. He struck out 79 in 77 innings. As a freshman, he was 5-1. 

Last summer, Cicio pitched in the Cal Ripken Sr. League and was named the MVP in the all-star game featured the Cal Ripken League and the Valley League. 

Cicio was ranked the 20th best prospect in the Cal Ripken League last summer.
