The Staunton Braves are mathematically still in the Valley Baseball League playoff hunt, but not by much.

Wednesday night at John Moxie Memorial Stadium, the home team bowed to the Covington Lumberjacks 2-1 as a late-season meltdown continued; the Braves losing their 10th game out of their last 11 starts, including six straight.

Harrisonburg provided the punishment Monday night, pounding out an 11-4 win over struggling Staunton.
