Blalock To Coach Braves This Summer

The Braves are proud to announce that Tyrie Blalock will be the team’s head coach this summer. Blalock was set to be an assistant this summer, but with Lukas Ray’s decision to make a career change, the Braves’ front office made the decision to elevate Blalock to the head coaching job.

Coach Blalock is currently in his second year of coaching at USC-Lancaster where he is in charge of the hitters and will also assist with the infielders. Blalock’s responsibilities also include coaching 1st base. In Blalock’s first year, working with the hitters and outfielders, he saw Todd Mattox named to Region X 2nd Team and Jackson Barrett named to the Region X All-Defensive Team.

In the Summer of 2018, Coach Blalock was an Assistant Coach for the Cotuit Kettleers in the Cape Cod Collegiate Baseball League. Coach Blalock worked under long time UNC Head Baseball Coach Mike Roberts as well as Colorado Rockies Offensive Coordinator Jerry Weinstein.

Spenser Ramsey is still on board to be the team’s pitching coach this summer.
