Braves Announce 2019 Coaching Staff

The Staunton Braves have finalized their coaching staff for the 2019 season and 2018 assistant coach Lukas Ray will take over as the team’s head coach next summer. Ray is currently the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at South Carolina-Lancaster.

Prior to joining the USC-Lancaster staff, Ray spend on year as the recruiting coordinator/pitching coach at Florence-Darlington Tech where the team won the 2018 Region X regular season title. Ray’s pitching staff posted a team ERA of 2.83 – the sixth lowest mark in the nation. His 2018 recruiting class at Florence-Darlington Tech was ranked third in the nation.

Spencer Ramsey will join the Braves next summer as the team’s pitching coach. Ramsey is currently in his third year serving as assistant coach at Southeastern Community College where he works primarily with the pitching staff. Ramsey played his college baseball at UNC-Pembroke.

Tyrie Blalock will serve as the Braves’ hitting coach in 2019. Blalock is entering his second year of coaching at USC-Lancaster where he will be in charge of the hitters and will also assist with the infielders. In the Summer of 2018, Coach Blalock was an assistant coach for the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Summer League. Blaylock played in the VBL in 2017 with the Charlottesville Tom Sox.
