Pro Watch: Borkovich Dominant On The Mound

Former Braves pitcher Walter Borkovich has had a dominant year in A ball.

Pitching most of the season at Rome, Borkovich is 4-1 at Rome with a 1.87 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. In 62.2 IP he has 39 Ks and 15 walks.

About a month ago, Walter got called up to the Florida State League (Advanced A) and made three dominant starts. He was 1-0 in the three games and did not allow a run in 17 innings. He struck out 12 and did not issue a walk.

Walter is back down in Rome for the playoffs and just last night turned in a stellar start. He allowed one run in eight innings, but got a no decision in Rome’s 2-1 walk-off win over the Greenville Drive.

Walter’s combined numbers at Rome and Florida are 5-1 record with a 1.47 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. He has 51 Ks and 15 walks . He also has three saves.
