Braves Top Tom Sox In 11 Innings, 3-1

The Braves picked up a big road victory Tuesday night with a 3-1, 11-inning win at Charlottesville. Staunton tied the score, 1-1, with an unearned run in the ninth to force extra innings.

Trey Jacobs (UNC-Pembroke) led off the 11th with a single and, with one out, pinch-hitter Chad Cooperman )Bloomsburg) put the Braves ahead with a triple. Eric Conner (Walsh) scored Cooperman with a single, making the score 3-1. Brandon Wilkes (Bethune-Cookman) blanked the Tom Sox in the 11th to earn the save.

Justin Showalter (JMU) was masterful on the mound, allowing just one run on five hits in eight innings. Jeremy Cook (Miami) was dominant in his two innings to get the win. Cook retired all six batters he faced, four by strikeout.

Jacobs was 3-for-5 for the Braves.
