Braves Silence Turks, 3-1

HARRISONBURG – Four Staunton Braves combined on a 3-hitter Wednesday night in a 3-1 victory over the Harrisonburg Turks.

Bailey Hall (Eastern Mennonite) got the start and was stellar in 4.2 innings allowing just one run on one base hit. Jeremy Cook (Miami) picked up the win, holding the Turks without a hit in 2.1 innings. He struck out three and walked one. Chad Cooperman (Bloomsburg) pitched a scoreless eighth inning and Brandon Wilkes (Bethune-Cookman) worked the ninth to earn the save.

The Braves scored first with a run in the fifth. Luke Jackson (UNC-Pembroke) singled, stole second and scored on a hard single up the middle by Brycen Thomas (Middle Tennessee State) for a 1-0 lead.

After the Turks tied the score in the bottom of the fifth, Brett Willett (VCU) belted a two-run homer in the sixth to put the Braves up 3-1.
