Swiger, Cooperman Named All-PSAC East

A pair of 2018 Braves players from Bloomsburg University have been named to the All-PSAC East second team. Cole Swiger was selected in the OF and RHP/3B Chad Cooperman was named at the utility position.

Swiger proved there was no sophomore slump as he improved on nearly every offensive category in 2018 while serving as the Huskies’ leadoff hitter. Swiger posted a .364 average (59-of-162) which has him third on the team in hitting. He leads the team in doubles (18) and runs scored (47) and ranks second in hits (59), total bases (91), and stolen bases (11). His 18 doubles are tied for second in the league. The sophomore also tied for the team lead in walks with 27 and was hit by a pitch a team-high 11 times, giving him an on-base percentage of .478 out of the leadoff spot.

Cooperman proved to be an excellent two-way player for the Huskies this season. He currently ranks fourth on the team in hitting with a .323 batting average (31-of-96) with 20 runs scored, one home run, and 19 runs batted in. He also ranks fifth on the team with a .419 on-base percentage. Cooperman also had a stellar season on the mound, ranking second among Huskies’ starters with a 3.77 ERA on the year while posting a 2-3 record. He ranks second on the team to Raines in both innings pitched (45.1) and strikeouts (49) while throwing his first career complete game against Mansfield on April 14.
