Nolan Neiman Named Braves Head Coach

The Staunton Braves have hired Nolan Neiman as the team’s head coach for the 2018 season.

“ I would like to thank the Staunton Braves administration, Lance Mauck, Garland Eutsler, Steve Cox and Scott  Roane for giving me the opportunity to lead the Braves this upcoming summer,” Neiman said. “The Valley League has always held a special place in my heart since my time there as a coach in New Market in ’06 and ’08. I always told myself that if it wasn’t New Market,  Staunton would be the only team that I would consider returning for. With the administration’s vision and leadership, my family and I could not pass up the opportunity to be part of something this special. The unbelievable fan base and support for the town, team, and for every player each summer sets Staunton apart from most college summer league towns.  It is a special place and I am extremely excited to get started.”

Neiman has vast coaching experience at various levels of baseball, including a stint as a head coach in the Valley Baseball League.

Currently, Neiman is the Director of Baseball for the Florida Surge Baseball Club. He is also an associate scout with the Texas Rangers. Neiman is also co-owner of Neiman Sports Group, a firm offering consulting support for clients in sports marketing, camp production, facility management and sports programming.

Most recently, Neiman served as head coach of the post-grad program at the IMG Academy in Florida from 2013-16. While there he placed 100 percent of his players into college programs and coached three Major League Baseball draft picks.

Neiman spent two years coaching in the VBL. In 2006 he served as the hitting coach for the New Market Rebels and in 2008 he returned to New Market as the Rebels’ head coach.

Neiman began his college coaching career in 2006 as an assistant coach at the University of Pennsylvania. After one season, he moved to his alma mater, DeSales University, where he worked as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Neiman also had assistant coaching stints at Florida Gulf Coast University, University of Maryland and Millersville University.

Neiman graduated from DeSales with a degree in sports management with a concentration in development and marketing.

He played one season of professional baseball with the New Jersey Jackals.

The Braves will announce their assistant coaches on Wednesday.
