Houston Sends Two Players To Staunton

The University of Houston will send a pair of players to Staunton next summer.

Nick Slaughter is a sophomore OF/C who will be in the Cougars starting lineup. Slaughter hit .282 in 24 games for the Cougars as a freshman. He played in the Cal Ripken League last summer and was named to the all-star team. He finished the summer with nine doubles, three triples and two homers.

First-year RHP D’Mond LaFond will also be making his way to Staunton. The highly-touted prospect was ranked among the Top 150 players in the nation in the high school class of 2017, LaFond works with a fastball that has been clocked as high as 93 mph.
