Braves Sign Three From Bloomsburg

The Staunton Braves have signed three players from D-II Bloomsburg for the 2018 season.

Sophomore OF Cole Swiger comes to the Braves after a solid freshman year and an all-star summer season. Swiger played last summer in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League and was an all-star for the league champion Allentown Railers. Swiger hit .293 for the Railers last summer. In his freshman year at Bloomsburg Swiger hit for a .294 average with seven homers.

Soph. RHP Chad Cooperman will also join the Braves. Cooperman was a teammate of Swiger last summer on the ACBL Championship team – Allentown Railers. Cooperman made seven appearances – all starts – and finished 3-2 with a 3.11 ERA and he struck out 45 in 43 IP. Cooperman was selected to pitch in the ACBL All-Star Game. As a freshman at Bloomsburg, Cooperman logged 33 innings on the mound and struck out 35.

The third Huskie on the way to Staunton is freshman RHP Nick Stoner. Stoner was ranked the 10th best RHP in Pennsylvania as a high school senior. The hard-throwing RHP is expected to make an immediate impact on the Bloomsburg staff in his first season.
