Braves Sign Two From Middle Tennessee

The Braves have signed a pair of players from Middle Tennessee State to play next summer in Staunton

The first is freshman LHP Peyton Wigginton.

MTSU hed coach Jim McGuire’s thoughts on Wigginton: “Tall, lean, left-handed pitcher, with good command. He just keeps getting better and better. He should be an impact guy on the mound as a freshman.”

Wigginton is expected to compete for a spot in the weekend rotation at MTSU.

The second player from Middle Tennessee State signed by the Braves is RHP/1B Brycen Thomas. Thomas was ranked as the No. 17 overall prospect in Tennessee and the No. 10 ranked RHP.
Here’s what head coach Jim McGuire said about Thomas: “He’s a true two-way guy. Tremendous upside on the mound, good velocity. He really attacks hitters as a pitcher. Outstanding power at the plate, and he’s coming off a championship team. He brings a great amount of versatility to the team.”

Thomas is coming off arm surgery and will not pitch for the Blue Raiders this spring but he will play first base and DH. Thomas will be available to pitch for the Braves this summer.
