Braves Win 5-4 In 10 Innings

The Staunton Braves pushed across a run in the bottom of the 10th inning Thursday to defeat Strasburg 4-3.

With two outs and no one on base in the 10th, Antwaun Tucker (Longwood) singled to keep the inning alive. Garrett Marchand (JMU) singled to right, moving Tucker to third. Payton Robertson (Lamar) singled to the hole at short, scoring Tucker with the winning run.

The Braves bullpen was stellar allowing just one unearned run over the final six innings. Derek Duffy (Franklin Pierce) pitched 2.1 innings and allowed three hits. He struck out six and walked one. Jordan Silverman (Rider) worked one inning and allowed one hit and one unearned run. Corley Woods (Jacksonville State) picked up the win, allowing no runs and just one hit over the final 2.2 innings.

Jay Charleston (Tennessee) led the offense, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases. Patrick Overstreet (Truett-McConnell) was 2-for-4 with one RBI and Brendan Cutting (Nova Southeastern) was 2-for-4.
