Braves End Losing Streak With 4-2 Win

STRASBURG – Four Staunton pitchers combined for a strong showing Tuesday evening as the Braves snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory at Strasburg.

Jordan Cox (Dayton) allowed just one unearned run in the first four innings before running into trouble in the fifth.

Dean Stramara (Towson) entered with two outs in the fifth and pitched 2.1 innings of shutout relief, striking out five batters.

Corley Woods (Jacksonville State) made his first appearance of the season and pitched a scoreless eighth and Danny Devereaux (Washington and Lee) worked a 1-2-3 ninth to notch his first save of the season.

Richard Miller (Towson) continued his hot hitting with a 3-for-5 night and one RBI. Jay Charleston (Tennessee) was 2-for-5 and Ryan Coale (JMU) was 2-for-4 with one RBI.

WINCHESTER 9, BRAVES 8 – Winchester jumped out to an 8-2 lead and held off a Braves’ rally to win on Monday night.

Miller was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and Charleston was 3-for-4 with two stolen bases. Michael Higgins (UCF) was 2-for-5 and Brendan Cutting (Nova Southeastern) was 2-for-5.

WAYNESBORO 14, BRAVES 2 – Waynesboro pulled away from a 2-2 tie Sunday night to down the Braves 14-2.

Garrett Marchand (JMU) was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Patrick Overstreet was 2-for-4 with one RBI.

HARRISONBURG 11, BRAVES 7: The Braves squandered a 4-0 lead Saturday when the Turks scored nine runs in the sixth en route to an 11-7 win.

Deacon Medders turned in his second strong outing of the season, working 5-plus innings and allowed just two earned runs.

Antwaun Tucker (Longwood) was 2-for-5 for the Braves and Max Wood (UCF) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
